About Dr. Regala

I was born in Cebu City, Philippines but my family moved to the United States when I was one year old.  I grew up in Maryland and Wisconsin.  I studied Spanish at the University of Wisconsin and spent a year studying in Spain to become fluent in the language.  I stayed at the University of Wisconsin for medical school.

After serving an internship in general surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, I decided to pursue a career in otolaryngology.  I completed a  clinical fellowship in otolaryngology at the Boston University Medical Center, then spent a year researching neural transplants to restore hearing at the prestigious Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.  My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has been presented at the Nobel Forum.  I completed my residency at Charles Drew University in Los Angeles, CA where I scored in the 99th percentile in an annual examination of all the otolaryngology residents nation-wide.

I am a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine.  In 2019, I served as the president of the Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii.

In 2005, I moved with my wife to Hawaii to begin practice and they have a son.  I enjoy the outdoors- surfing, hiking, and camping and have run ten marathons.  I also enjoy cooking and travel.

I appreciate your confidence in choosing me as your physician, and I assure you that I will do everything possible to maintain that confidence.  I am an Otolaryngologist -- Head and Neck Surgeon.  I treat diseases of the head and neck, ear, nose, sinuses, mouth, throat, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and esophagus.  I also treat sleep disorders, including snoring and sleep apnea.  Some patients may see me only once; others may come for many years.  In either case, I hope to become acquainted with you to the point that you feel comfortable with your treatment and with me as your physician.

I assure you that I will take the time to explain everything fully to you at the time of your visit.  Please ask any questions that you wish during your visit and never hesitate to call me.  Either I or a knowledgeable member of the staff will return your call and answer any questions you might have.

Welcome to my practice.  I look forward to our relationship and our partnership in improving your health.  As your physician I assure you that I will do everything possible to earn your confidence.

Christopher Regala, M.D.
